OFFICIAL RESOURCES · RESEARCH CHECKED OCTOBER 5, 2026

Paperwork in Mississippi.

Find the official resources behind the preparation notes. Use the exact document-specific requirements and current agency forms; a general template does not replace required filing, signing, notice, or transfer procedures.

Vehicle transfers & bills of sale

Mississippi warns against accepting or delivering an incomplete title assignment. A bill of sale cannot leave the buyer on the title unidentified.

Coverage: Motor vehicles in the documented guidance. Boat, trailer, firearm, and other asset rules require their own review.

Fill the buyer assignment before delivery

Assign the title to the new owner and complete the required sections. Never leave the buyer name blank. Remove the previous owner’s plate when the assigned title and vehicle are handed over.

Document scope: Vehicle Bill of Sale, Motorcycle Bill of Sale, RV & Camper Bill of Sale

Handle a lost title or family transfer correctly

For family transfers, review the Affidavit of Relationship. Mississippi’s FAQ says a missing title normally needs replacement before sale; a bonded-title situation uses separate requirements and is not cured by this agreement.

Residential rental documents

Use the AG’s residential statute resource and verify current law before choosing a notice deadline.

Coverage: Residential rental research. Commercial, farm, hunting, equipment, and vehicle leases are separate subjects.

Keep the statutory deposit and maintenance record

The Attorney General publishes the Residential Landlord and Tenant Act. Identify the rental’s coverage, written repair responsibilities, deposit amount and purpose, move-in condition, and settlement address. The publication is older, so verify current amendments rather than presenting it as a 2026 consolidated code.
