OFFICIAL RESOURCES · RESEARCH CHECKED OCTOBER 5, 2026

Paperwork in New Hampshire.

Find the official resources behind the preparation notes. Use the exact document-specific requirements and current agency forms; a general template does not replace required filing, signing, notice, or transfer procedures.

Vehicle transfers & bills of sale

New Hampshire distinguishes titled and non-titled vehicle ownership records. Confirm the applicable route with DMV and your town or city clerk.

Coverage: Motor vehicles in the documented guidance. Boat, trailer, firearm, and other asset rules require their own review.

Do not replace a required title with a bill of sale

Use the assigned previous title for a titled vehicle. DMV’s title handbook cautions against treating a bill of sale as a substitute when a title is required.

Document scope: Vehicle Bill of Sale, Motorcycle Bill of Sale, RV & Camper Bill of Sale

Check the non-titled vehicle evidence

For an eligible non-titled vehicle, ask which registration history, sale report, and VIN-verification evidence are required. TDMV 22A is a specific report for non-titled vehicles, not an unrestricted replacement title.

Document scope: Vehicle Bill of Sale, Motorcycle Bill of Sale, RV & Camper Bill of Sale

Residential rental documents

Check both RSA 540 for termination and RSA 540-A for deposit and prohibited-practice rules.

Coverage: Residential rental research. Commercial, farm, hunting, equipment, and vehicle leases are separate subjects.

Separate notice grounds from deposit settlement

RSA 540 addresses rental categories, grounds, notice, service, and court process. RSA 540-A separately addresses prohibited conduct and security deposits. Identify whether the property is covered residential property and record the applicable ground. A tenant’s planned move-out and a landlord’s possession demand should not share an assumed deadline.

Review deposit coverage and handling

Use RSA 540-A’s definitions and security-deposit provisions to confirm covered landlords, holding arrangements, and accounting. Keep receipts, condition documentation, and a forwarding address. Check exemptions before automatically applying a standard deposit clause.
