MAKE THE DOCUMENT WORK FOR YOUR SITUATION
About this rv & camper bill of sale
Record an RV or camper sale with chassis identity, equipment, damage disclosures and handover terms. First determine whether the property is a motorized RV or a towable camper: title, registration, mileage and weight rules can differ.
When to use it
- Use it to record a private sale and retain matching copies for buyer and seller. Select the transaction stage so a pending payment or future delivery is not presented as a completed exchange.
- For a gift or trade, describe the actual consideration and relationship. Use the appropriate state tax affidavit or gift process where required; a gift label does not establish exemption.
- For installment payments, an unresolved lien, an estate seller, a missing title or salvage history, document the facts and complete the additional agreement or agency process needed for that case.
What to gather before completing it
- Check chassis VIN, title and any separate manufacturer identification. Identify whether the sale concerns a motorhome, travel trailer or other camper; apply mileage requirements to the correct class.
- Inspect roof, seals, flooring, frame, electrical system, plumbing, heating and appliances. Record known leaks or water damage and attach the inspection report rather than merely writing good condition.
- List generator hours, tanks, equipment, keys and accessories. Agree on removal from storage or a campsite, transport arrangements, lien payoff and the ownership documents to be delivered.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Applying passenger-car mileage or plate rules automatically to a towable camper, or treating campsite occupancy as part of the sale without a separate agreement.
- Omitting known roof, water or structural damage, or confusing generator hours with vehicle mileage.
- Promising a clear title while financing remains unresolved, or including a service contract without checking whether it transfers.
After you complete the document
- Each party keeps the signed agreement, title-assignment copy, payment evidence and listed attachments. Record the actual keys, documents and items handed over.
- The buyer completes the title, tax, insurance and registration requirements. The seller separately files the state notice of sale or release where applicable and retains confirmation.
- Follow the applicable plate rule and arrange lawful transportation. A sale record by itself is not a registration, temporary tag or authorization to drive an unregistered vehicle.
What the template includes
The online builder and downloaded documents use the same fields. A selected state can add relevant research prompts. Complete only applicable items; add explanations for exceptions rather than assuming a blank entry resolves them.
